Maha Kumbh 2025: Airtel strengthens network infrastructure for Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025

Bharti Airtel has significantly expanded its network infrastructure in Prayagraj to handle the huge influx of pilgrims expected to the Maha Kumbh, the company announced today.

Shares of Bharti Airtel Limited were trading at ₹1,585 at 2:02 pm today, down ₹13.85 or 0.87 percent on the NSE.

 

The telecom provider has commissioned 287 new locations and optimized over 340 existing ones, while 78 cells on wheels (COW) have been installed at the Kumbh Mela building. The company has also installed 74 kilometers of additional fiber in the city to improve mobile coverage.

To manage potential emergencies, Airtel has set up three war rooms in Jhusi, Arail and Sangam areas, supported by a dedicated disaster management team equipped with generators and critical equipment. The company is also working with the Prayagraj Traffic Police to set up 780 kiosks at entry and exit points to manage crowd movement and display safety instructions.

The improved infrastructure will provide coverage in key areas including highways, railway stations, airports, hotels and high footfall locations in Prayagraj.

Airtel, which serves more than 550 million customers across 15 countries in India and Africa, is India’s largest provider of integrated communications solutions. The company offers various services including 4G/5G mobile broadband, fiber connectivity and digital payment solutions, along with enterprise services such as cloud computing and cybersecurity.
