Indian shares opened themselves highly lower on Monday (April 6, 2025), because concern about a global trade war and growing recession fears in the US caused a stock market route on Wall Street and in other Asian markets.
The Nifty 50 fell 5% to 21,758.4 in pre-open trade from 9:08 am ist, while the BSE SENSEX fell by 5.29% to 71,379.89.
All 13 large sectors fell. The wider small caps and mid-caps lost 10% and 7.3% respectively.
Other Asian markets were employed, with the MSCI Asia ex-Japan index lost 6.8%. The Japanese Nikkei 225 fell 6.5%.

“The new rates of US President Trump are ‘larger than expected’ and the economic impact on inflation and growth will probably be,” said Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell on Friday (April 4, 2025), in which an uncertain view of the US economy is marked.
