Before investing in a mutual fund, investors are encouraged to compare the returns they get with those of other schemes. While a scheme’s past returns do not guarantee future returns, they can provide an indication of the scheme’s potential to perform in the future.

Other factors that mutual fund investors should consider before investing include the reputation of the fund house, the broad category to which the fund belongs, the macroeconomic fundamentals and whether the fund is active or passive, and the past performance of fund managers in case of active schemes.

Here we share the returns achieved by value mutual funds over the past one year.

What are value funds?

Value investment funds refer to the schemes that invest in value investment strategies, with at least 65 percent invested in equities. There are 23 value funds with a total assets under management (AUM) of 1,89,470.65 on November 30, 2024.

LIC MF Value Fund gave the highest return of 32.34 percent. JM Value Fund delivered a return of 28.35 percent in the past year, HSBC Value Fund a return of 29.30 percent and UTI Value Fund a return of 27.71 percent.

Meanwhile, investors are advised not to rely solely on the past performance of a mutual fund before making an investment call. This is because the past performance (more than 25 percent) of the schemes may or may not be continued in the future.
